SENIORS
It is important to continue to inform your School Counselor and Mrs. Baril (jean_baril@whps.org) about all college admissions decisions that you have received. Please note that all decisions will be kept confidential. If you plan to enter the military, workforce or other programs, let us know this too.  It’s important to hear back from you as we REALLY want to help ensure that each senior has a plan for after graduation; let us help you!!

As your destination gets closer, you might need to find resources to help you afford your choice.  Be diligent and look for scholarships. Scholarship opportunities will continue to be uploaded onto Naviance so check the site often.  You may also check with Mrs. Shaffer in the College/Career Resource Center for any questions about scholarships. There are other resources for Seniors to look at scholarships online; FastWeb is a great example of one that has numerous scholarships available.

You will receive other forms of communication throughout your remaining months at Hall HS regarding important events like senior prom, senior outing, graduation, cap and gown ordering, to name a few.  This will likely come from others not in our office so pay close attention to emails and daily notices.

Graduation date has been set for Tuesday, June 19th; mark your calendars!!

JUNIORS
Wednesday, April 4th concluded the Junior Seminar Series. Due to inclement weather, our SAT administration date is now scheduled for Tuesday, April, 24th. All juniors are encouraged to listen to announcements, check T.V. Monitors, as well as email for updates on room locations and the schedule for the day.

Wednesday, April 4th marks the first day of the 4th quarter. We are in the Home stretch!

On Wednesday, April 25, 2018, the Connecticut Congressional Delegation will be holding an annual Academy Night for students and recent graduates who are interested in attending one of our nation’s preeminent military academies – U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the U.S. Naval Academy.

This is a great opportunity for you to meet with representatives and cadets/midshipmen from each of the academies.

The program begins promptly at 6:00 PM at the MG Maurice Rose Armed Forces Reserve Center, 375 Smith Street, Middletown, CT.

SOPHOMORES
The Hall School Counselors will be delivering a one day career exploration lesson with all sophomores the week of April 16th-20th. The lesson is designed to encourage students to think about themselves, their future, and to expand their awareness of college and career options that might be available to them based on their personality type and educational/vocational interests. Students will be administered a personality assessment and one or more career interest inventories via Naviance, an online program that can be used to research and save information regarding various career and college options according to each student’s preferences.  tudents will be able to utilize results from their personality assessment and career interest inventories to aid in the selection of their high school courses and to further develop their post-secondary goals.

Counselors will also continue to meet with sophomores individually throughout the spring terms to formally review student course requests for next year and make any changes needed. Please ask your child if they've met with their counselor yet, and if they haven't reach out to be sure they haven't missed their appointment aas notifications are done via school email.

FRESHMEN
Happy Spring!

You've made it through 3/4 of your freshman year and at this point, all freshman students have courses selected for their sophomore year. If you have any lingering questions about your course selection or planning for your future, please make an appointment to see your counselor, Mrs. Alix or Mr. Suchocki.

We will be visiting your Earth Science classes after April break to take a little time to begin career exploration at the high school level. This is something that your school counselors will support you with throughout your time at Hall!

Have a wonderful Spring Break!!!
